Why families choose Bridge Street

What makes Bridge Street feel like home

A smiling toddler in a sunhat sitting inside a tyre in the sandpit

Owned by a Toowoomba family, run right here.

Our owners were born and raised in Toowoomba. Decisions about your child are made here, by people who live here and know this community.

The same familiar faces, year after year.

Parents mention it in their reviews: long-term, experienced educators. Your child builds real bonds with people who stay, and you're greeted by name at the gate.

A grassy backyard with a shady tree, a raised veggie garden bed and a white cottage with a verandah

A kindy cottage of their own.

Our kindy children learn in a stand-alone cottage on site. It feels like a home, with a qualified Early Childhood Teacher and a program built for the year before Prep.

Big school is right across the road.

We're opposite Holy Name Primary School. If you have older children there, drop-off is one stop. And for our kindy children, big school is somewhere they've waved at every morning, not somewhere new.

Two smiling girls sitting at a craft table with feathers and coloured beads

Home-cooked meals, every single day.

Our cooks make morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea in our own kitchen. Soups, pasta bakes, fishcakes, falafel and meatballs, with fruit most mornings and every allergy catered for.

Parking that works at 7:45am.

Easy on-site parking on Bridge Street, even at the busiest drop-off and pick-up times. Close to the city, on your way to work.

Free Kindy at Bridge Street

Free Kindy, in a cottage of its own

In the year before Prep, your child can spend 15 hours a week, 40 weeks a year in our government-approved kindy program at no cost to you. It runs in our stand-alone cottage with a qualified Early Childhood Teacher, and it's built around getting your child ready for school: making friends, managing their own belongings, and loving learning.

  • Free for eligible children. 15 hours a week of kindy, 40 weeks a year.
  • Full days still available. Need longer days? Your child can stay from 6:30am to 6pm. Hours outside the kindy program are charged as normal long day care, with the Child Care Subsidy applied.
  • Big school across the road. We're opposite Holy Name Primary, so the step up to Prep feels familiar.

For 2027: children born between 1 July 2022 and 30 June 2023.

When can my child start Free Kindy?

Born between January and June? You can choose to start kindy a year later. We're happy to talk it through.

What the right early learning centre gives your child

Choosing childcare is a big decision. Here's what a great centre gives your child that's hard to replicate anywhere else.

A brain built through play.

A child's brain grows faster in the first five years than at any other time in life. Play, conversation and a steady routine lay the foundations for language, problem solving and managing big feelings.

At Bridge Street: music and movement, sport, dance, and a backyard split into three areas so every age has room to explore.

Friendships and confidence.

Sharing, taking turns, working out a disagreement, and saying goodbye to mum or dad, then having a great day anyway. These are life skills, and they start here.

At Bridge Street: long-serving educators who know your child by name, so goodbyes get easier, faster.

Ready for Prep, not rushed into it.

Children who attend a quality kindy program start school with stronger language and early literacy and number skills, plus the independence to manage their own lunchbox and belongings.

At Bridge Street: Free Kindy in our own cottage, with Holy Name Primary right across the road.

A routine your whole family can lean on.

Reliable hours from 6:30am to 6pm, 52 weeks a year, closed only on public holidays. Work and family life fit together, and your child knows exactly what their day looks like.

At Bridge Street: open 6:30am to 6pm all year, with meals, nappies and sunscreen included.

Questions families ask us

What are your hours?

6:30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, 52 weeks a year. We only close on public holidays.

How much will it cost me?

With the Child Care Subsidy, gap fees can be as low as $18 a day. Call us or book a tour and we'll work out your exact rate.

Is kindy free?

Yes, for eligible children. Our kindy program is government approved, so 15 hours a week, 40 weeks a year is free in the year before Prep. For 2027, that's children born between 1 July 2022 and 30 June 2023. Any hours outside the kindy program are charged as normal long day care, with the Child Care Subsidy applied.

Is there a minimum number of days?

No. We do recommend two days a week, because children settle faster and build stronger bonds when they see familiar faces more often.

What do I need to bring?

A spare change of clothes, a sunhat and a water bottle. We supply all meals, nappies, wipes and sunscreen. Nursery families bring bottles and formula or breast milk, plus any comforter your baby loves.

How does drop-off and pick-up work?

You sign your child in and out on our kiosk each day, so we always know exactly who is here and who collected them.

Can my family's culture be part of my child's learning?

Yes. We want to know about your family, your traditions and your child's interests, and we weave them into their program.

How long is a tour?

As long as you like. Meet the educators, see the rooms and the kindy cottage, and ask everything you want to ask.

Still have questions? Ask them on a tour, or call 07 4632 0920.
